Clark Construction is a leading construction and building firm headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, with additional offices across the USA. Founded in 1906, Clark has had a hand in building some of the largest and most iconic buildings in the country.
Notable projects include two dozen Washington, D.C. Metro stations, Nationals Park, Washington Harbour, the World Bank Group building, Salesforce Tower, and the L’Enfant Plaza amongst many others.
Clark engaged Joba to develop a new brand for the Clark Internship Program. Clark values their summer associates, with around 80% of new hires, each year, funneling directly from the internship program. Clark wanted Joba to design a cohesive Brand Identity, that would resonate with summer associates coming from across the world to 5 + offices, for their intensive and valuable internship program.
Joba worked closely with Clark’s marketing and internship teams, holding weekly conference calls and delivering drafts and ideas via the cloud for fast, efficient, and meaningful feedback.
With an emphasis on maintaining elements of Clark’s primary brand, Joba developed a new name and mark for the internship program, as well as marketing materials. Joba designed a identity that reflected the seriousness of the experience, while balancing a clean brand that resonated with young people. Bright and modern colors, new typography, and elements of style were created to compliment Clark’s primary brand, while giving the program its own unique identity. The main mark, a “C” and “X, ” were derived from the programs new name “The Clark eXperience,” and flow together representing the transition of interning to working in the field as a professional. The clean lines of the mark are carried over into outlined typography used throughout marketing and promotional materials geared towards summer associates.
